OXENHOPE had a day to forget in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League Premier Division.

Shorn of several regulars at home to Triangle, they were asked to bat on a damp, miserable day and were dismissed for 95, which was an improvement on 1-3.

Only two players made double figures – captain Josh Tetley (51) and Joe Ousey (14) – as Kurtis Whippey took 5-14 and Nathan Madden 3-6.

With more rain in the air, Triangle were in no mood to mess around and won by eight wickets in 11.5 overs, with Liam Dyson taking both wickets.

Ben Burkill was in the runs again for Cullingworth in Division One, scoring 66 in their 176 at home to Shelf, for who Mick Priestley took 4-45.

The visitors were looking good at 146-4 but they collapsed to 156 all out, with Burkill taking 4-46, Chris Welch 3-3 and David Robinson 2-18.

Among the second teams, there was little better news for Oxenhope, who lost by nine wickets to promotion-chasing Queensbury in Division One.

The Slators – Jacob (80no) and Jason (56no) – ensured a maximum-points victory for the latter as they knocked off Oxenhope's 166-9 for the loss of one wicket in the 32nd over.

Another centurion to finish on the losing side was Cullingworth’s Patrick Clarke who clearly shunned running between the stumps, as 88 of his 109 not out came in fours! Again it was all in vain as he ran out of partners and home side Shelf won by 33 runs.

The hosts made 262-8 (Sam Higgens 66, Ronnie Goldwater 60, Tom Say 4-65, Dan Baines 3-125 off 23 overs), and Cullingworth replied with 229, the next highest scorers after Clarke being a couple of 14s and a 13.
