CIROC moved two points clear at the top of Division One of the Bradford & District Evening League as they beat third-placed Salem Athletic by 28 runs.

Meanwhile, second-placed Adil Rashid Cricket Academy slipped up against bottom side Greenfields at the Karmand Centre.

Batting first, Ciroc set Salem Athletic a modest 129-4 from their 16 overs, thanks largely to 50 not out from Fahid Rehman as Zeeshan Qasim took 3-22.

At 93-4, the hosts looked well on the way to victory but 4-28 from Yasir Ali helped to dismiss them for 101 as overseas player Khalid Usman top-scored with 43.

At the Karmand Centre, the Academy couldn’t capitalise on 50 not out from opener Imran Arif as tight bowling from Greenfield held them to 110-6 from 16 overs.

Runs proved equally hard to come by for Greenfields but a fourth-wicket partnership between Sajad Ali (28) and Mohammed Nadeem (25) was crucial as they finished on 111-5 with an over to spare.

Tom Clee (55no) and Ross Soames (51no) helped Thornton set a challenging total of 144-2 from 18 overs at Shelf.

However, the home side were up for the challenge as they recorded the highest score of the day of 145-5 with two overs to spare, thanks to Mussaver Shah (52no) and Asad Abbas (41).

In Division Two, leaders Hepworth & Idle suffered their second defeat in consecutive weeks, this time at the hands of in-form Raja’s at Idle.

Nazam Hussain’s 3-7 restricted the visitors to 96-9 from their 18 overs, despite a fine 40 from Simon McDermott.

Raja’s didn’t have it all their own way, however, and lost seven wickets before they reached their target in the 17th over (Ijaz Ahmed 32no, Adeel Ashraf 31, David Myers-Charles 3-26).

Raja’s stay fourth, despite the victory but are now just four points off top spot with two games to play.

John Breare and Crossflatts took full advantage of the Westfield Lane side’s slip and moved to within two points of the former runaway leaders as both recorded home victories in low-scoring affairs - against Bradshaw and Cambing respectively.

Second-placed Breare were clinical as they restricted their visitors to Westfield Lane to just 58-9 from 16 overs (Bob Hodson 3-19).

In-form opener Peter Kempton (24no) then made short work of the reply as Breare hit 59-1 with 5.4 overs to spare.

Crossflatts remain third as they dismissed a spirited young Cambing team (who managed to bat their full allocation of 18 overs) for just 74, with overseas spinner Joey Lynch claiming 5-13.

However, the Ryshworth Park outfit showed no mercy in their reply as they cruised to victory off just nine overs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Great Horton Park Chapel rattled up 130-5 from just 16 overs at Windhill against bottom side Cross Roads & Daisy Hill, thanks mainly to an 81-run second-wicket partnership between Jordan Laban (53no) and Ben Burkill (27).

Park Chapel then proceeded to bowl the home side out for just 43 in nine overs, with Dom Anderson taking 4-20 and Nicolas Flood 4-21.

Fifth-placed Park Chapel still have a realistic chance of promotion and a place in the end-of-season Finals Day, which they are hosting at Ewart Street.

They are just four points adrift of top spot and have to play the top two teams in their final two games of the season.

Tomorrow's games are - Division One: Adil Rashid Cricket Academy v Salem Athletic, Ciroc v Shelf. Denholme v Greenfield. Division Two: Bradshaw v Raja’s, Cambing v John Breare, Great Horton Park Chapel v Crossflatts, Hepworth & Idle v Cross Roads & Daisy Hill.
