JER Lane, who will be joining the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League next season, have won at least one piece of silverware in their final Spenser Wilson Halifax League season.

The Bradford club lifted the league's Foster's T20 competition at Great Horton Park Chapel, beating Mytholmroyd in a dramatic semi-final and newcomers Illingworth St Mary's in the final.

Jer posted 141 to beat Mythomroyd by seven runs, despite a action-packed final over in which the ball travelled to all parts of the ground.

In the other semi-final, Bridgeholme, who were chasing Illingworth's 137, looked down and out after losing five wickets for less than 50.

However, the lower order recovered and Bridgeholme, with nine wickets down, needed eight runs from the final two overs.

But they fell agonisingly short, with Bridgeholme's No 11 bowled with the score on 135 in the penultimate over.

The final was reduced to 18 over a side, and Illingworth, chasing 139, made a great start, reaching 70-0 before an inspired bowling change by skipper Mickey Hustler altered the contest.

Jonny Lister returned 6-16 in just four overs, including four stumpings, to earn the man of the match award as Illingworth collapsed to 100 all out.

Great Horton Park Chapel, who hold a similar event for the Bradford & District Evening League, did a fantastic job at their Ewart Street ground in what was their first major Halifax League finals event.

In the league, Jer Lane's Premier Division title hopes took a knock in a 27-run defeat to Sowerby St Peters.

Adam Clarke's 79 runs helped St Peters make 222, despite impressive bowling by Kieran Rogers (5-34) and Amjid Khan (4-65).

Jer replied with 195, with no-one playing a dominant innings.

Meanwhile, Thornton's six-wicket win over leaders Booth leaves the title race wide open with seven matches remaining.

Booth were all out for 79, Ross Parr taking 6-11 in 13.4 overs.

Down the table, Northowram Hedge Top defeated an out-of-sorts Oxenhope by two wickets to keep their own survival hopes alive.

Liam Dyson scored an impressive 56, but was one of three Jack Hemblys victims, while Harry Talbot took 5-86.

At the bottom of the standings, Queensbury are now seven points adrift – despite Mohammed Altaf's impressive 89 in their 193-7.

He was one of four Michael Midwood victims as Triangle won by four wickets.

In the First Division, Ben Birkill’s brilliant season continued as he hit 109 in Cullingworth’s 59-run win at Great Horton Park Chapel, also chipping in with 3-17 as five of the visitors' bowlers took wickets.

But the story of the day was the bowling performance of Southowram’s David Jowett at Shelf, whose figures of 17-4-61-9 are the best of the season.

The result leaves Shelf second from bottom, 14 points ahead of Stones.

In the Second Division, 20 wickets fell for a miserly 130 runs as Birchencliffe entertained Clayton at Bradley & Colnebridge, following the home team’s ground problems.

The home team must have thought 12 points were in the bag as they bowled out the visitors for 74, but a surprise was in store.

The Bradford team hit back in style and their hosts were back in the tent for a mere 56 runs.

Elsewhere, struggling Low Moor Holy Trinity fell to in-form Bradshaw, who rattled up a mammoth 343-6.

Piers Fisher (136) and Mohammed Yousaf (102no) enjoyed themselves in a 139-run fifth-wicket partnership, Yousaf’s century taking only 72 minutes.

The daunting target was far too much for the visitors, who lost by 218 runs.
