OXENHOPE completed a miserable second half of the season with another emphatic defeat to Jer Lane in the Halifax League Premier Division.

There was only pride to play for but not a lot of that was on display as the bowling was dispatched for 292-5 and the batsmen could muster just 117 all out before being dismissed in just 21 overs - only Lewis Hopkinson with 59 really troubling the scorers. The fielding point went to Grahame Ellis with a stunning one-handed catch.

The result concluded a run of 11 consecutive defeats since mid-season and, while injuries to key bowlers have played a part, the frailty of the batting line-up and lack of commitment from some players was evident throughout the poor run, with the team narrowly avoiding relegation. There is much to improve on for next season.
