STONES are the main beneficiaries in terms of the reshuffle in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League caused by the withdrawal of Jer Lane and the merger of Shelf and Northowram Hedge Top.

The Ripponden club finished bottom of the First Division last season, but have been spared relegation due to Shelf, who were second from bottom, joining Northowram Hedge Top.

Cullingworth and Southowram were promoted to the Premier Division, but the second tier for 2018 does include Queensbury, who were relegated from the top flight, and Bradshaw and Illingworth St Mary's, who were promoted from the Second Division.

No club were relegated from the First Division, but the third tier do have one new club in Bradley & Colnebridge, who have added a first team to the second team that they had last season.

The Premier Division has 12 clubs (22 matches), the First Division eight (21 matches) and the Second Division 10 (22 matches).

As far as second teams are concerned, Copley have avoided relegation from the Premier Division, while Mytholmroyd and Upper Hopton have been promored from the First Division.

Southowram have been relegated, however, but neither Shelf Northowram Hedge Top nor Outlane have been relegated from the First Division as the numbers wouldn't have stacked up if they had.

Mount have been promoted from the Second Division, but Bradley & Colnebridge could not be promoted as champions from the third tier as at the time they only had one team and a one-team club cannot be promoted.

The Premier Division has 12 teams (22 matches), the First Division eight (21 matches) and the Second Division nine teams (18 matches).

In the Sunday Section, Mytholmroyd and Northowram Fields have been promoted from Division Two, while Illingworth St Mary's have been relegated from Division One.

Rastrick have been spared relegation from Division Two, where Luddendenfoot and Triangle have been promoted from Division Three.

The latter division have four new teams - Booth, Bradshaw, Shelf Northowram Hedge Top and Slaithwaite.

Division One and Division Two have eight teams, with Division Three having nine teams.
