STEETON had a difficult afternoon in the field and their misery was compounded by an atrocious batting performance. Chasing a formidable 221-4, they collapsed to 89 all out away to Collingham & Linton.

The away side made a bright start on Saturday, with Joe Stead having Collingham's opening batsman, Asanga Weerasinghe, caught behind by Craig Walton for nine.

However, the second-wicket partnership began to take the game away from Steeton. Collingham's captain Jack Harrison hit 32, but it was Charlie Swallow who spread his wings with a sublime batting performance.

After Harrison's departure, Swallow ploughed on. He hit 10 fours and three sixes, and thanks to strong middle order support, he reached his century just before the close of the innings. He finished unbeaten on 105.

James Emmott was the stand-out bowler for Steeton. He kept it tight and picked up a couple of wickets to finish with figures of 2-44.

Steeton made a solid start to their reply and with Freddie Pearson (26) batting nicely, they were well-poised at 66-2.

However, Collingham's Toby Jacklin removed Bradley Akrigg and Pearson in quick succession and that precipitated a batting collapse.

Jacklin ran riot against the middle and lower order, finishing with 6-34 as Steeton fell to a huge 132-run defeat, leaving them with just two points from the game.

Steeton's second XI fared little better at home to Otley, despite making a brilliant start. David Robinson (72) and Chris Luxton (34) put on exactly 100 for the opening partnership, with Robinson striking seven fours and two sixes.

However, once Jack Brady removed them both, he tore through the rest of the order. He finished with 7-28, only Aatif Modak (18) offering any kind of resistance. Steeton closed on a disappointing 152 all out.

Despite Elliott Wilson's 3-24, Otley were always in control thanks to their opener Graeme Wolfenden. He made an unbeaten 95 as his side cruised to a six-wicket win.

Andy Bailey was the star for Harden as their first XI dismantled Bolton Villas' batting card to secure an 82-run home victory. He took 4-16 in 11.5 overs as the away side crumbled to 91 all out.

Bolton inserted Harden but the home side made a positive start. Openers Andy Wear (44) and Daniel Giblin (40) laid a solid platform for the rest of the innings.

However, the rest of Harden's batsmen struggled. Wicket-keeper captain James Roper made a battling 27 but his side had to settle for an underwhelming 173 all out.

Romil Butt removed Bolton's opener Rehaan Butt for a duck and it set the tone for the rest of the innings. Each bowler took at least two wickets as Harden won easily. Extras (19) only just missed out on being Bolton's top scorer.
