Oxenhope 66 all out

Booth 69-5

OXENHOPE crashed to a five-wicket defeat in the Halifax League Premier Division after falling to 66 all out at Booth.

With the bounce unpredictable, Oxenhope were skittled out for just 66 in 24 overs. Only Josh Fleetwood (17) and Joe Ousey (23) made it to double figures.

The quality of the pitch was exemplified as the reigning champions were reduced to 11-4 mainly due to the fast left arm deliveries of 17-year-old Joel Fothergill, who had the home side on the ropes with figures of 6-3 from seven overs. This was before the age law required his spell to be prematurely terminated.

That was the cue for Hasnain Wajid to let loose and hit a quick-fire 49 to seal the points for the champions who were five down at the close.

Oxenhope II 254-4

Mount II 251-7

OXENHOPE seconds bounced back from a disappointing defeat the previous week to record an excellent win at home to Mount.

Batting was in the supremacy and after a slow start Makbul Patel pressed the accelerator and raced to 70. Mahamad Makda (53) and Suleman Rawat (47) contributed to their side's 251-5. Luke Fleetwood was the pick of the bowlers with 3-53.

The early loss of skipper Fleetwood looked ominous for the home side but experience took the spoils as opener Brendan Ellison cruised to 85 in an excellent second wicket partnership with Eddie Burke (35). Three quick wickets swung the momentum to the visitors before Andrew Whitehead (44no) and Duncan Tetley (76no) put on an unbeaten match-winning stand with just an over to spare.
