KEIGHLEY advanced to the quarter-finals of the Jack Hampshire Cup with a crushing 243-run win over Buttershaw St Pauls.

Buttershaw are the only team to have beaten Keighley so far this season and the Lawkholme Laners were out for revenge.

Skipper Paul Quinlan won the toss and elected to bat first even though his batting line-up was weakened with the absence of star batsman Richard Gould.

Buttershaw’s good batting wicket means the side batting first needs to be as aggressive as possible so in Gould’s absence Quinlan changed his batting order to reflect the wicket and place his pinch hitters higher up the order.

Despite an early wicket, this paid dividends.

Regular opener Luke Chapman, who himself scored a fine 78, watched from the non-striker's end, as firstly Nathan Storton crashed an excellent 64 from just 29 deliveries and then Adam Greenwood helped himself to an impressive 83 from 71 deliveries, which included six sixes.

Max Davison finished with an unbeaten 35 as Keighley closed their innings on 307-7 in their allotted 40 overs.

Buttershaw, with the pressure of a big target to chase, needed to come out of the blocks quickly and this induced several mistakes to which they never recovered from.

Fine bowling from James Rogers (3-14), Quinlan (3-31), Ben Jagger (2-8) and Storton (2-8) saw the home side bowled out cheaply for just 64.
