Paul Quinlan’s second successive five-wicket haul kept Keighley in prime position for a third-placed finish.

The young paceman took 5-34 off 15 overs as the Lawkholme Lane side thrashed Bowling Old Lane by 100 runs.

His nap hand came after an equally impressive spell in the victory at Hartshead Moor the previous week when he took 5-33 off 15 overs.

It left Keighley 18 points clear of fourth-placed Great Horton, who will fancy their chances of closing the gap on Saturday when they visit struggling Windhill while Ross Towler’s men have a blank fixture.

That means it could come down to a last-day battle on Sunday when Keighley host Spen Victoria and Great Horton entertain title-chasing Lightcliffe. Fifth-placed Morley are also not yet out of the equation.

Keighley had to dig deep before posting a challenging 217 all out, being dismissed in the final over at home to Old Lane.

They were 44-4 before Jonny Wilkinson (51) and Simon Bailey (63) put on 102 for the fifth wicket. Stand-in skipper Max Davidson then took the innings past the 200-mark with a useful 41 before being trapped lbw by Zubair Najeeb, who was Old Lane’s chief destroyer with 4-42 along with Mubtada Akhtar (4-54).

Quinlan and Joe Stead (2-35) soon had the visitors reeling at 7-3 and, despite 50 from Tahir Khan, they never recovered as Amjid Hussain weighed in with a useful 2-27.

Keighley II were put to the sword by Gomersal II opener Richard Gould, who made 112 not out off 96 balls in the hosts’ eight-wicket win.

That saw Gomersal to 168-2
