Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield winners Keighley have crowned their season by securing promotion from second teams’ Division Two with a nine-wicket win over eight-man Brighouse.

Steve Reape (73no) and Andrew Waggett (41no) steered their side past the Brighouse total of 125 with an unbeaten stand of 117.

John Potkins was the mainstay of the Brighouse innings with 61, putting on 85 for the first wicket with Geoff Stewart (29), while spinner Dave Hall took 4-22 for Keighley, who finished second on 301 points, just six less than champions Bradford & Bingley who had a blank date.

Keighley’s first team ended their Division Two programme in fifth place after defeating Windhill by nine runs as Joe Stead (4-45), Imran Patel (3-14) and Simon Bailey (2-22) dismissed them for 143.

A crucial unbeaten 40 by No 9 batsman Jason Roberts had enabled Keighley to reach 152 all out.

At one stage they were 80-7, but Roberts added 55 with Scott Hartley (27) for the eighth wicket.
