Denholme weightlifter Rebekah powers her way to nine British records

Denholme’s Rebekah Tiler has broken another nine British records, taking her tally this month to an astonishing 18!

At the British Championships in Bristol last Saturday, the Bingley Grammar School pupil snatched 72kg and clean and jerked an impressive 93kg for a total of 165kg on her way to gold and the best female lifter of the day crown.

This backed up her achievement of nine British records set earlier this month in the Northern Weightlifting Bergson Trophy at Mytholmroyd Community Centre, near Halifax, where she trains.

The teenager is now ranked in the top ten in the world female youth rankings. Her next tournament is at her home club on November 24 (noon), and admittance is free.
