RIDDLESDEN Tennis Club will officially open its new facilities on Sunday, July 20 (2pm) following over £130,000 of investment.

The redevelopment has provided two full-sized competition standard tennis courts and – to bring on the stars of the future – a new practice court with mini-tennis nets for under-11s.

Added to that is a new pavilion, with changing rooms and a social area and kitchen.

The project has been possible thanks to Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund, a generous donation from the trustees of the old Keighley Tennis club and support from local councillors.

Club chairman Malcolm Smith said: “The new all-weather courts provide much-needed facilities for the village and can be used throughout the winter.

“Our club is family friendly and has a rapidly developing junior membership. The super new facilities mean a coaching system can be introduced with LTA-qualified coaches to help members of all ages improve.”

Prospective members are welcome to come and play three times, before deciding to join.

The courts will be available to try on the opening day.
