TOM Moses' busiest cycling year ended with the Friends Life Tour of Britain last weekend.

The Rapha Condor JLT rider finished 65th overall, which he described as "all right" after a season in which he put down more competitive kilometres than ever.

"It wasn't the busiest Tour of Britain that I have done – that was in 2012 after the Olympics – but the crowds were still good," said the Keighley-based rider.

"My performance wasn't the best that I have done but you have to remember that I have been racing since January.

"I have done more races than I have ever done – but it is all experience for next year and I feel I have gone on to another level."

Moses finished just three places and seven minutes eight seconds behind Steeton-born Scott Thwaites, of Burley-in-Wharfedale, and revealed: "I am always in competition with Scott and Pool-in-Wharfedale's Nathan Edmondson to see who can finish higher in the general classification.

"It is the end of the season for me now and I am going to Australia for a holiday, but taking my bike with me. I won't start training proper for next season until November.

"Rapha Condor JLT will no longer be sponsoring the team in 2014 but we are staying together under a new sponsor, which will hopefully be at a higher level or at least the same. I can't say anything more than that at the moment."

Moses was 62nd, 78th, 71st, 62nd, 71st, 61st, 75th, 73rd and 87th in the Tour of Britain stages, which included a circuit of Liverpool city centre on day one and an individual time trial and circuit of London on the final day.

He was, however, badly affected – as were the rest of a large group – by a crosswind with 50 kilometres to go on stage seven from Camberley to Brighton and trailed in 35min 22sec behind the stage winner.
