Silsden 2 AFC Blackpool 0

Silsden got back to winning ways in the North West Counties Premier Division after last Saturday’s home defeat to leaders Runcorn Linnets.

Struggling AFC Blackpool were the midweek visitors to the Angel Telecom Stadium and the Cobbydalers towered over them with a rock solid first half display.

Ben Crabtree opened the scoring midway through the first period when he ghosted in unmarked to head home Ryan Brereton’s superbly flighted free kick.

Crabtree began the move that produced the Cobbydalers’ second later in the half when he sent Craig Nicholls away and his ball into the six yard box was swept in by Zack Dale.

Silsden had played some good football on the zippy surface following heavy rain but they failed to dominate after the interval. The visitors came out in much more determined mode but Phil Rishton made some telling saves when called on to earn his clean sheet.
