DENHOLME weightlifter Rebekah Tiler, who made the final short-list of ten for the second successive year, again did not make the final three for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year.

The final three were announced on children's TV programme Blue Peter last Thursday, and the title was won by four-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Claudia Fragapane on Sunday in Glasgow.

The 17-year-old gymnast from Bristol won the team, all-around, floor and vault titles in the Scottish city, becoming the first woman in 84 years to win four golds at a single Games.

Para-cyclist Sophie Thornhill was second in the vote and golfer Bradley Neil third.

Rebekah, 15, who attends Bingley Grammar School, became the youngest person to win a senior women’s British title, also taking a silver medal in the European Youth Championships and narrowly missing out on bronze at the Commonwealth Games.
