SUTTON in Craven Cricket Club are the proud owners of a brand new set of wheeled covers.

They have been awarded them by the England & Wales Cricket Board and NatWest Cricket Force for their fine work on and off the field.

The £4,000 gift was delivered to their home ground at Royd Hill on Saturday by manufacturers Stuart Canvas - a proud day for the Mewies Solicitors Craven League club.

Club chairman Stuart Robinson said: "We are delighted to have been chosen to receive the covers. This is something the club has been thinking about for a long time now but due to other significant cost outlays it has not been possible.

"The covers will undoubtedly help us to manage more games during the season especially with some of the wet summer months that we have to endure and this is due to the ECB, Natwest Cricket Force and Stuart Canvas generously donating these covers and for that we are very grateful."

Sutton were selected to receive the covers for their tireless work to develop their club.

They have had Clubmark accreditation for six years and have a developing junior section alongside their two senior sides.

Sutton have also taken part in the ECB Initiative Chance to Shine for the last two years and have run a successful Kwik Cricket festival each year for up to nine junior schools.

They have played an active part in two cricket development groups and are currently gearing up for the 2015 season.

They will be sprucing up their ground as part of NatWest CricketForce later this month - an initiative which gets clubs to work with their community and volunteers to get jobs done.

The club's next big aim is to build a new pavilion and grant applications have been submitted.
