KEIGHLEY’S James Lund took part in the British Triathlon Youth Super Series Aquathlon in Hyde Park, London on Saturday.

James, who is on the Yorkshire Triathlon Academy, completed the 400m swim around the Serpentine in a time of 4 minutes 52 seconds, entering transition in fifth place. He then ran 2.5km around Hyde Park in 9min 8sec.

Lund, who attends Ermysted’s Grammar School at Skipton, finished in eighth place out of the 50 best youth triathletes in the country in a time of 13min 59sec.

James is a member of City of Bradford Swimming Club coached by head coach Andy Pearce as part of the Bradford Council’s Aquatics Competition Programme.

He is also a member of Keighley and Craven Athletics Club under the guidance of coach John Dennis.

His cycling training is provided by Stuart Rider of Riders Cycle Centre in Skipton.

Lund has made his mark in recent years as a talented fell and cross country runner who has enjoyed success with both his school and club.

On Sunday the ITU World Triathlon series also took place in Hyde Park with Alistair Brownlee winning the elite men’s race, swimming 750m in the serpentine, 20km bike and a 5km run around Hyde Park.
