THREE Keighley Jiu Jitsu Club juniors passed with flying colours at the gradings held at Bradford Grammar School last weekend.

Cara Thornton achieved yellow II, Joshua Bradley orange II and Jack Pilling yellow.

The club, thanks to the National Lottery Awards for All and West Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner Safer Communities Fund, have benefited from moving from Holy Family School to their purpose-built dojo on the top floor of Keighley's NRGym at The Mill on Greengate Road, (BD21 5LH).

Meanwhile, local businesses, including NRGym, Over2Hills (Cleckheaton) and City Electrical Factors (Keighley), who donated furniture, lighting and various other things, have also contributed.

It has a seating area, office space and a food and drink area, as well as ample mat space for jiu jitsu sessions, and even a climbing wall.

The club is run by Sensei Anthony Detoeuf and Sensei Phil Jeminson, who between them have 60 years' knowledge and experience, both having competed at high levels.

They are also recruiting new members, who can just turn up as long as they are wearing loose sports clothing.

Sessions for adults and children, who can start training from the age of five, run on a Monday and Wednesday (6pm-7.30pm).

The first session is free, and after that each session costs £5.

For any further information, there is a Facebook page at Keighley Jitsu Club, and, as well as taking part in competitions, such as national events, courses and gradings, there are also social events, such as bowling and camping weekends.
