THERE was a major shock in the Worth Valley Handicap when the unheralded Ian Shepherd of Steeton beat top Settle star, Derek Seed, 21-14.

Richard Hargreaves of Cross Roads also continued his recent good form when he retained the Hebden Bridge Champion of Champions title beating the Saville veteran, Bill Greenwood, 21-15 at Greenroyd BC.

Also on the winning trail was Barry Turnbull of Silsden who teamed up with Paul Hillam of Eccleshill to win the Yorkshire Parks Veterans Doubles at the Shipley Club beating David Burns and John Stocks of Peel Park, 21-13.

Top local stars Phil Dowgill, David Scott, Andrew Tate and ‘Jocky’ Wilson were all winners as their Bradford team, Clayton Victoria, win the Yorkshire ABA’s Henry Taylor Cup by defeating Hillcrest at Kirkheaton.

The Valley/Skipton Junior team were well beaten in their last match of the season against Huddersfield when they failed to muster a winner.

The British Junior Final on Sunday sees Robbie Ellis of Craven play his last game at this level as the Yorkshire away side travel to meet Wales in Colwyn Bay while his sister Faye makes her debut on the same team.
