Young, who now lives in Shipley. and Gould jumped into the lead, and by the end of the first lap were working their way through the over-40s backmarkers before Young made his decisive move.

He was joined at the top of the podium by former Bingley man Rob Jebb (Hope Factory Racing), now living in Kendal.

Making his debut as an over-40 rider, he took an early lead with Darren Atkins (Ride Coventry), but was on his own at the front with two laps remaining, and won by ten seconds.

Jebb's clubmate Annie Simpson, from East Morton, was fifth in the elite women's race, 57 seconds behind winner Hannah Payton (Kinesis UK).
