KEIGHLEY youngster Harisah Ghafoor is hoping her running success can encourage others from the local Asian community to take up the sport.

The 11-year-old has been victorious for the second successive year in the Keighley & Craven Schools Cross Country Championships, winning the girls year five/six title again.

She won it with a race to spare, having triumphed in the first three events which were held at Cliffe Castle Park.

And the Nessfield Primary School youngster celebrated more success when she won the North Bradford Schools crown at Eldwick Primary School.

Harisah, who is a member of Keighley & Craven Athletics Club, is dedicated to her sport, training up to five times a week.

She said: ā€œIā€™m really grateful for the fantastic coaching I receive, especially from Scott Bairstow at my club.

"I'm also thankful my family are fully behind me and would love to see more people from my community take part in running, particularly girls.ā€
