HAWORTH'S Molly Rhodes had qualified to represent West Yorkshire in the under-11 girls' category in the finals of the Butterfly English Schools' Individual Championship later this month.

The Lees Primary School pupil, who is a member of Halifax Table Tennis Club, will compete at Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton on Saturday, April 23.

Over 350 players will represent 50 counties at either under-11s, under-13s, under-16s or under-19s for boys and girls in what is the largest one-day event in the English table tennis calendar.

Following the championships, the English Schools' Table Tennis Association will select representative teams to play in the invitation international to be held in June against teams from Guernsey, Ireland, the Isle of Man, Scotland and Wales.

Molly warmed up for Wolverhampton by reaching the under-11 girls' singles final in the Ormesby One-Star Under-11 and Under-13 Tournament in Middlesbrough, losing to the third-ranked Lola McGhee (Cleveland), and was also a quarter-finalist in the under-13 girls' singles.
