KEIGHLEY'S Chris Melling was philosophical after being beaten 10-5 by David Morris in the first qualifying round of the Betfred World Snooker Championships.
The 37-year-old was optimistic before facing the Irishman at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield, tweeting: "Arrived at Ponds Forge, time to put some performances in like I know I can."
He hauled himself back to 7-5 behind in the evening session from a 6-2 deficit against the 27-year-old from Kilkenny but then lost the last three frames.
Melling tweeted: "Score doesn't really reflect the game but that's snooker. Best of luck to David, he's a class act."
The world-ranked No 89 made only one break of over 50 (108 in the fifth), while Morris made two centuries (110 and 107) and three more breaks of 60 or over.
World No 68 Morris then lost 10-6 to twice former world semi-finalist Alan McManus in the second round.
