EAST MORTON landlord Martin Crosswaite won the fifth Yeadon-Guiseley club championship trial at sun-baked Silsden on Sunday from Bradford teenager Keiran Child and Guiseley's Joe Jennings.

Heavy marks in the opening three sections at Pratts Farm killed off Child's hopes.

Just 30 riders contended the full ten-section four-lap course marked out by Joe Jennings and Danny Cockshott and that number had a choice of three section routes.

The small-wheel contingent almost broke records when 20 youngsters, some only aged four years, competed separately on a seven-section, four-lap course. The starlets were Jacob Reeday and William Sagar, while Harry Smithies topped the nine beginners' class entry.
