BRITONS have received all four wild cards into the main draw of the 42,500 euros AEGON Ilkley Trophy.

The quartet of places have gone to Liam Broady, Brydan Klein, Lloyd Glasspool and Keighley-born Jonny O'Mara.

Freya Christie, who made her WTA main draw debut in her 'home-town' tournament of Nottingham last week, and Australian Ashleigh Barty, who excels at cricket as well as tennis, were given the first two women's wild-card places into the $50,000 Women's ITF Pro Circuit tournament which is running alongside the men's tournament at Ilkley.

Their other two wild-card places will be announced this afternoon.

Broady, whose sister, former Woodhouse Grove pupil Naomi, broke into the world's top 100 earlier this year, played in the AEGON Ilkley Trophy in 2015, losing 6-4, 6-4 in the first round to top seed Malek Jaziri (Tunisia).

The 22-year-old left-hander from Stockport came from two sets down two weeks later to defeat Marinko Matosevic, who is playing in the qualifying at Ilkley, which starts today, in the first round at Wimbledon last year.

Broady is world-ranked 238, while eight places below him is Australian-born 26-year-old Klein, whose mother was born in Manchester.

Klein, who switched his allegiance to Great Britain in May, 2013, was a semi-finalist in the AEGON GB Pro-Series at Ilkley the following year.

Glasspool, 22 and world ranked 308, only lost 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to the experienced Yen-Hsun Lu (Taipei) in the first round of the Manchester Challenger two weeks ago, while local flavour is added by 21-year-old O'Mara, whose world ranking is at a career-high 701.

In the last year, O'Mara has reached the final of ITF Futures events at Heraklion (losing to Glasspool), the semi-finals of Sharm El Sheikh and Tipton and quarter-finals in Doha (twice), Heraklion and Setubal.

Now the Scot, who was a semi-finalist in the GB Pro-Series event at Ilkley in 2013, has the chance to test himself at a higher level.

The draw for the men's qualifying at the AEGON Ilkley Trophy took place last night and features ten Britons, none of which are seeded.

They include Sunderland wild card Dan Bennett, who lost a gripping AEGON Ilkley British Tour final to fellow Black Cats fan Adam Barratclough last July, and Joe Salisbury, an AEGON British Tour runner-up at Ilkley to Kyle Brassington in 2011.

Other Britons in the qualifying are Neil Pauffley, like Klein a losing AEGON GB Pro-Series semi-finalist in 2014, wild cards Ryan James Storrie, Jack Molloy (who meet each other today) Marcus Walters, Max Benaim and Jay Clarke (who plays Salisbury), plus Keelan Oakley.

Top seed in qualifying is world No 191 Ruben Bemelmans, who was part of the Belgian team that lost the Davis Cup final to Great Britain last November.

Bemelmans, who reached the third round of the US Open last year, lost the second rubber on the indoor clay court in Genk 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 to Andy Murray.

Men's qualifying finishes on Monday, while the women's qualifying starts tomorrow and finishes on Tuesday.
