TOM Moses has enjoyed an impressive week for JLT Condor, following a podium spot in the Ilkley Town Centre elite race with a prominent display in the British Cycling National Road Championship.

The Oakworth rider featured in both major breakaways in an aggressive performance in the national event at Stockton-on-Tees.

His hard work laid the platform for team-mate Chris Lawless to save his legs for a sprint finish.

Lawless was the first to round the final corner and, despite his good position, he was overpowered by winner Adam Blythe and former world champion Mark Cavendish, who was runner-up.

Moses finished 16th and Lawless ninth, which also secured him silver in the under-23 championship.

JLT Condor boss John Herety was full of praise for his team. He said: "Domestically we were by far the best.”

Meanwhile, Moses was happy to finish third in the elite men's event at the Ilkley Town Centre Races last week.

Burley-in-Wharfedale's Scott Thwaites, who was born in Steeton, was a popular winner in the 42km Lister Horsfall Grand Prix in 1hour 3min 52sec – coming in ahead of second-placed Jack Pullar (Pedal Heaven) and Moses in a sprint finish.

Former Oakbank School pupil Moses tweeted: "Great night of racing... happy to come away with third! Tough circuit and mega crowds."

Mirfield's Rebecca Wolmersley triumphed in the ladies race ahead of Henrietta Colborne and fellow Drops Cycling Team rider Annabel Simpson from East Morton.
