Silsden Storm under-11s 18 West Bowling under-11s 18

Silsden were hoping to repeat their victory over Bowling, when the sides last met, but had to share the honours against their fierce rivals.

Demi Lea Grieg and James Pyrah were on top of their games at centre, tackling everything that moved, while Joe Preistley and Jake Bartlam were prominent in attack along with Jack Beck, who had a fine game at hooker.

Storm broke the deadlock after ten minutes as Shakeal Templeton got the ball out of the tackle to Joe Beck, who powered into four players to score and Robson Weir converted.

Bowling took advantage of a knock-on to score in the corner and make it 6-6 at half-time.

They scored their second try early in the second half after a few sets pounding the Silsden line. But Storm returned the favour shortly after with a try from close range by Jack Beck, which again brought the sides level.

The game swung the way of West Bowling, who punished a dropped ball with another try to take the lead 18-12.

Templeton was fantastic at full back in both attack and defence as he ran the ball back brilliantly. He broke the line a couple of times along with Joe Beck, who looked to be away down the left flank until he was tackled in the corner.

The clock was ticking down and it needed some magic. Up stepped Weir, who produced a magnificent cross-field kick for Joe Beck, who caught it to score and draw the match.

Silsden might have won if their error count had been lower but this was a great advert for junior rugby league.

Grieg ran strongly and her solid defence bagged her three player of the match awards. Pyrah deserved his player of the week award with his high work rate, while

Brody Leach tackled like a lion to earn himself a magic moment award. Robson Weir also took the plaudits with his passing and kicking.
