KEIGHLEY'S Ian Holmes continues to write his name into the record books of The Stoop fell race on Haworth Moor.

The Bingley Harrier, whose 11 overall victories in the race is unsurpassed, set a new Veteran 50 best time in the 28th edition of the event last Sunday.

He knocked 38 seconds off his own record in clocking a time of 33min 16sec to finish fourth in the five-mile contest, which included 800 feet of climb.

Holmes also led Bingley to the team prize, with Oxenhope's Matthew Merrick (under-18) coming 14th and Andy Brown 19th.

Ilkley Harrier Tom Adams was crowned overall winner for the fourth time from a field of 306 Santa-hatted runners.

His time of 30.14 saw him finish over two minutes clear of eight-time winner and British and English V40 champion Rob Hope, who had out-sprinted Adams to triumph last year.

Runner-up Hope was first V40, ahead of third-placed Harry Holmes (York Knavesmire), while sixth-placed Tyler Hutchinson (City of York) was first under-18.

Preston's Nichola Jackson was first female in 28th place overall (37.48), while Haworth GP Jo Buckley was top female veteran in 40.31.

There was a big turnout for the junior races, with over 130 youngsters taking part. Local winners included Katie Buckley (Keighley & Craven), girl under-8s; Louis Hudson (K&C) under-14s; Alice Jones (Wharfedale), girls under-12s; Emily Jones (Wharfedale), girls under-14s; Reuben Mantle (Bingley) under-16s.
