NEAR perfect conditions greeted the riders for Bronte Wheelers' 25-mile time trial on the Skipton to Settle and back course with only a slight south westerly wind to contend with.
The winner in a new course record of 50min 43secs was Skipton professional Pete Williams, who almost averaged 30mph despite being stopped twice at road works in Hellifield.
In second place, riding for Green Jersey, was Hamish Graham, who on another day would have been the winner.
Third place went to Bronte’s own Darren Caines in an excellent time and personal best of 61min 35secs.
The previous weekend, Bronte’s Steve Ayers achieved a personal best and also new club record of 277 miles in a 12 hour time trial in Newbury.
The previous record has stood for 70 years and was a fantastic ride in what were difficult conditions, having to contend with high winds for the entire ride.
For the next six weeks, the club's Wednesday 10TT will be on the Kildwick course, starting at 7.30pm.
