HARDEN landlord Martin Crosswaite demonstrated his trials pedigree by taking third place in the GE Brown Trophy Trial at Low Row in Swaledale on Sunday.

He finished just a single penalty behind Richard Sadler in the Richmond Motor Club event, which was won by Scott Trial winner Jonathan Richardson, who had switched camps to Gas Gas two weeks ago.

The Yorkshire Centre Championship trial attracted all the big names in the county.

The youth class went to Huddersfield 's Will Tolson, just, from Bradford boy Charlie Smith. Mirfield's Andrew Jackson headed Ben Ludgate and Ilkley decorator Graham Tales in the Clubman A class.

* Spen Valley MCC fifth RAS Sport Club Championship, Rockingstones Quarry: The Spen stalwarts managed a rapid move for Sunday's trial when it was known that the Harden Moor venue was more or less waterlogged.

The club managed to get the trial back on schedule at Rockingstones Quarry where 26 competitors had the choice of three trials courses.

Phil Frizzel managed to ride his Beta machine through eight sections five times without losing any marks at all. Gomersal's Ben Hillam and Allerton's David Petty each lost a single mark, in sections four and six. Hillam got the verdict in class position by riding the farthest without penalty.

Denholme youngster Summer Brooksbank battled with brothers Charlie and Oliver Petty in Class D, claiming second.
