AFTER a three-month absence from trials due to a lack of leading officials, the Bradford Motor Club sprang back into action with round two of the Manywells Winter Championship series held at a cold and blustery Lumb Waterfall in Cowling.

A field of 37 members enjoyed a short compact course return to trials sport.

Jason Dunning plotted eight varied sections in the valley where the waterfall is the feature. The first was tricky climb with a grassy surface which halted quite a few riders.

Section two, observed Carina Carter, who was the event secretary and results mathematician, was partly in the shallow stream as was section three.

The final two featured grassy steep climbs. The sixth to eighth sections tracked the stream lower down the valley with a real muddy sting in the tail out of the seventh section. The final yards turned a deep mud fill slot just wide enough for tyres.

The class winners were Phil Hancock, Ian Bradley and Chris Chew.

The club have dates now for the Manywells series. The next event will take place on April 21, at the Manor House Farm, Lothersdale Road, Glusburn, from 2pm.

The green route class was won by Mirfield’s Andrew Jackson riding his new Montesa machine, while Andreas Cook ruled the clubman category. Ride of the day came from Charlie Crosland, who rode his Beta round for a mere one penalty.
