ALICE Jones produced a stunning run to win a gold medal at the Yorkshire Road Relay Championships, held at the Brownlee Centre in Leeds on Saturday.

The Wharfedale Harriers runner, who attends Skipton Girls High School, won the U15 girls road race in a time of 11 minutes 39 seconds, nearly 30 seconds ahead of her nearest challenger.

The result continues an excellent 2018 season for Alice, who also won at the North Yorkshire Schools’ Cross-Country Championships in January.

Niamh Conroy came ninth in the U15s race on Saturday, helping her Keighley & Craven girls to fourth in the team standings, after other good results courtesy of team-mates Eve Crossley and Ellie Meikle.

Niamh's brother Sam had success of his own in the U13 boys road race, as he obliterated the field to win by 14 seconds in a time 11.11.

Team-mates Jake Thompson and Sam Benson came 12th and 13th respectively as the K&C boys missed out on top spot by only four points.

The U17 K&C men's relay team of Ryan Watmouth, Jack Walton and Laurie Petrucci romped to victory in the men's 3x3200m relay with Watmouth particularly impressive, running the first leg in 10.05.

There were good results for our U15 boys in the road race too. Sam Smith secured second for Wharfedale in 10.21, with team-mate Alexander Thompson finishing eighth. This helped them to third in the team standings.

Harvey Lewis and Louis Hudson crossed the line in sixth and seventh respectively for K&C, and those results, combined with Arthur Peel's 13th place finish, helped the team to finish second.

Sebastienna Bairstow could hold her head high after a fine third place finish for K&C in the U13 girls road race, crossing the line in a time of 12.11.

Fellow club members Harisah Ghafoor and Mia Petrucci ran well too. They finished eighth and 11th respectively to secure a second placed finish in the team standings.

K&C's 4x3200 junior/senior women ran well in the relay, coming home in sixth place. Eleanor Robinson ran a particularly strong first leg in 11.50.
