REBECCA Kenna has finished off yet another solid season with a semi-final place, a quarter-final appearance and a last-16 finish at the 2018 Festival of Women's Snooker in Leeds.

The world No 4 from Keighley reached the last four of the Pairs Championship, partnering Leeds' Shannon Metcalf – "us Yorkshire lasses have to stick together" said Kenna – and the last eight of the 10-Red and the last 16 of the 6-Red world ranking events at the Northern Snooker Centre.

Kenna and Metcalf defeated Dorothee Rappi and Tanja Ender 2-0 in the pairs quarter-finals before losing to eventual winners Reanne Evans and Maria Catalano 2-1.

In the 10-Reds event, Kenna beat Stephanie Daughtery 3-0 in the last 16 before being taken out by Laura Evans 3-2, while in the 6-Reds event, Thailand's Warratthanun Sukritthanes defeated Kenna 3-1 in the last 16.

"I switched to a heavier cue with a new tip three weeks before the tournament – it is a Parris Cue made by Cue Sports Yorkshire with a G3 tip – but was used to it by the time the festival began and I played quite well," said Kenna.

"In practice at the beginning of April I made a century break, which showed that I was really enjoying playing with it.

"My main problem is that the table that I practice on at home is quite slow compared to the match tables.

"When I was on a slow table at the tournament, I was OK and made a break of 48, but I was on the match table twice, which was quicker, and I found that I couldn't control the white as well, but that is something that I intend to rectify by getting a quicker table at home to practice on."

Just when it seemed that Hong Kong's Ng On Yee was about to dominate the women's snooker scene, Leeds was a reminder of Reanne Evans' talents.

Having only lost 10-7 to Dominic Dale in the first round of qualifying for the Betfred World Championship at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, Evans mopped up three of the titles at the Northern Snooker Centre.

The 11-times world women's champion won both the 10-Red and 6-Red world ranking events before adding the Pairs Championship with Catalano.

Yee, who had won both the 10-Red and 6-Red titles in 2017, lost 4-1 in the 10-Red final and 4-3 on the pink in a dramatic 6-Red final.

On Yee still leads the world rankings with 79,850 points, but Evans is now on 74,000, while Catalano (55,450) has overtaken Kenna (53,375) for third place.
