THE heat was on at Addingham Moorside for the Horsforth & District Motor Club Geoff Milnes Trophy West Yorkshire Championship, where 69 riders sampled a taste of what will face the world trial contenders in September.

It was a tough day for the 50 contenders on the four-lap 14-section course and 19 riders retired to the buttie van.

Electrician Danny Gamble won the expert class on a single figure score edging away on the rugged section 11 with a five-score plus three on section nine.

Sam Yeadon was right on Gamble with a two which was bettered by Dan Hemingway on lap two.

The picture changed when Yeadon footed on lap one then stopped on lap two. That loss gave Gamble the Geoff Milnes Trophy.

Charlie Smith won Class A Youth although Joe Faunthorpe blazed a fast trail round the course to beat Ryan Brown, who foundered on rock step at the top of the final section.

Harry Hemingway has been close to winning Clubman A overall and on Sunday the 11-year-old did just that.

The East Keswick boy just floated over the rocks, losing a mere eight marks which rather bettered adult winner Jamie Stephenson's unlucky 13 total.

Just about half the Clubman B class loaded up and that put Phil Blacka in the driving seat from Steven Fowler and Neil Gaunt.

The seventh section tripped up Gaunt with an 11 score. Only 15 Small Wheelers ran under Chris Fannon's supervision where son Jonnie was supreme on the hard route.

Jimmy and Bobbie Crabtree ruled the middle route, while Huddersfield's Alanna Eagleton and Ruby Lawrie tied for the top spot on the easy route.
