Keighley Cougars are hosting a Battle of the Stars Charity Football Match on Sunday, July 1, at Cougar Park. The event is being promoted by Rancell UK which is the company involved in sending young local football players over to America to trial for LA Galaxy which is where David Beckham will now be playing.

The event is to raise money for the charity ASBAH (The Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus) and will feature stars from Harry Potter, Emmerdale, Dream Team and the band The Good Die Young.

The stars will play against the triallists who have been selected to trial for LA Galaxy, including Oxenhope twins Ben and Tom Wilkinson.

Some of the stars playing at the event are the Weasley twins, played by James and Oliver Phelps, Neville Longbottom, played by Matthew Lewis, from Harry Potter and Emmerdale's Sam Dingle, played by James Hooton, and Scott Windsor, played by Ben Freeman, and former Emmerdale stars Richie played by Glenn Lamont, Anthony Lewis who played Mark Reynolds and is now in the band The Good Die Young. The actor Alex Lawler from Mike Basset: England Manager, Dream Team and The Match will also be playing for the Stars'.

The match kicks off at 3pm but there will be a number of activities going on before then. The Good Die Young will open the day's events by playing live music from 1.30pm. There will also be a marching band and dancing from the Radio Aire FM Dance Team.

The day promises to be a fabulous family day out and will be a chance to meet some real Hollywood stars whilst raising funds for charity. After the match there will be presentations and an auction giving the public the opportunity to win prizes and meet the celebrities in person.

Gates open at 1pm with adults paying £5 and children/pensioners paying just £2. For more information, contact Keighley Cougars on 1535 606044.
