JAMES Feather is having second thoughts about joining Hunslet Hawks, according to Cougars chairman Gary Fawcett.

It was announced earlier this month that the long-serving hooker, who has been a fixture at Cougars for a decade and was club captain, was linking up with the Kingstone Press Championship One play-off winners.

However, Fawcett said: “He has now realised that his heart is with Cougars and it is up to James to sort out his situation with Hunslet.”

Feather (pictured) had agreed a new two-year contract with Cougars, who have been relegated to Championship One, last month before opting instead for Hawks.

Fawcett also confirmed that winger Gavin Duffy, who was on loan to Hawks last season, has verbally agreed to sign for Cougars.

The Keighley chief added: “Gavin did really well at Championship One level for Hunslet, featuring more than once in the league’s Team of the Week.”

Meanwhile, Fawcett is awaiting news from Oldham before deciding how many resolutions to put to a proposed extraordinary general meeting of the Rugby Football League.

He explained: “Oldham are on holiday at the moment, and if they agree to back my resolutions, I will put seven to the meeting but if they don’t I will only bring five as Wakefield aren’t backing two resolutions, and I would rather bring seven than five.”

Cougars are seeking financial compensation following the RFL’s decision to reinstate Batley and Doncaster’s docked points for fielding ineligible players which resulted in Keighley’s relegation. An egm would help their case.
