Dewsbury Rams Reserves 58 Keighley Cougars Reserves 12

COUGARS reserves slumped to yet another heavy defeat, and a second of the season, to Dewsbury Rams.

Home hooker James Delaney crossed for a hat-trick in the opening 15 minutes.

Luke Moorby burrowed over to hit back for Cougars before Austin Buchanan crossed in the corner to re-open the three-try gap and Dom Horn made the margin wider.

Gavin Duffy marked his return to action with a try in the corner after great play from Ben Stead.

James Glover fought his way over in the 56th minute to start an avalanche on the Keighley line.

Ryan Langton’s break down the wing put a second of the game on a plate for Horn before poor marking in defence on the line allowed Delaney to go over for his fourth try.

Brad Delaney’s kick caused havoc and allowed the half-back to take advantage of Connor Taylor’s knock on before setting up Jenson Okhovat.

Cougars coach Dean Muir said: “To have an experienced head on the pitch like Gav was of great use as he was speaking to the younger lads, helping them with their game.

“However, at times when the going does get tough, there are too many looking around for someone to speak out and that is causing us problems.”

COUGARS: Moorby, Duffy, Barnes, Casey, Hunt, Aitchison, Seeley, Watson, Stead, Courtney, Nicholson, Morton, Whippy. Subs: Taylor, Ward, Swinscoe, Wilkin.
