Cougars 68, Hemel Stags 16

JAMES Feather grabbed a four-try haul as the Cougars geared up for Sunday's promotion showdown at Oldham with a thumping win.

The club captain led by example, while winger Andy Gabriel claimed a brace to score for the eighth match running to equal Nick Pinkney's record for Keighley set in 1994-95.

There was also an appearance for assistant coach and Bradford & Bingley player Adam Mitchell, who played his first game for the Cougars in seven years after David March pulled out through injury before kick-off.

James Woodburn-Hall put Hemel ahead but Feather struck twice before Brendon Rawlins got in on the act.

Gabriel then touched down in the right corner before Hemel replied on the stroke of half-time through Nathan Darby.

Gabriel then took a long pass to dive over for his second try in the right corner four minutes after the restart but Hemel hit back through Simon Hrbek – only for Feather to complete his hat-trick.

Scott Law then grabbed a quickfire brace before Feather pounced for his fourth try.

Rawlins' second and scores from Handforth and Jozh Guzdek completed the rout, while Danny Lawton kicked eight goals on his 100th appearance for the club.

Lawton has joined Paul White, Gabriel, Feather, Rikki Sheriffe and Adam Brook in signing a one-year deal for the 2016 campaign.
