JOSH Lynam is the latest Cougars player to commit his future to the club until the end of 2018.

The homegrown second-rower is the fifth Keighley squad member to pen a two-year deal and more are expected to follow suit.

Since debuting in 2013 after coming through the youth set-up, Lynam has made 82 appearances for Cougars, scoring 25 tries.

Head coach Craig Lingard explained Cougars' longer-term approach. He said: "It is important to get these foundations laid down. We identified six to eight players we'd ideally like to keep at the club coming into next year. These are important for the team.

"At the end of season when you try to negotiate with players, everybody is asking, who is staying? If we can get these questions out of the way to start with, players know that the majority of the squad are hopefully going to be staying next year.

"When we look at recruiting people into the club, they can already see the players who we have got staying. Hopefully we'll be signing up a few more and fans will be happy with who we are signing."
