FORMER Keighley Cougar Ben Stead notched up a personal 12-point haul for England, as they overcame a strong Scotland side at the Student Rugby League World Cup.

Stead, who currently plies his trade at the University of Gloucestershire All Golds, slotted six successful conversions as England defeated the Auld Enemy 30-20 in their final group match at the Cabramatta Stadium in Sydney, Australia today.

They will now face reigning world champions Australia, who beat them 54-10 in the opening game of the tournament, in a tough semi-final at the Windsor Sports Complex in Sydney on Friday.

Former Cougars team mate Matt Ross was rested for the game against Scotland, after appearing in the opening two matches against Australia and Wales.
