Greetland u-9s 8, Keighley Albion u-9s 44

KEIGHLEY Albion under-nines not only won two consecutive matches for the first time but claimed two big scalps in three days.

Greetland bagged the first try via their line-breaker but Albion soon started to dominate both defensively and in attack, Jack Stephenson earning the most improved award on his return from injury.

Tries came from top tackler Lucas Evans (5), Robson Weir (3), Jacob Haigh (2) and Harry Benn, who got the magic moment for side-stepping his way over.

Albion captain Joe Priestley was man of the match for a faultless display in defence and attack.

Keighley Albion u-9s 28 Dearne Valley Bulldogs u-9s 24

THE fixture backlog mean that this was Albion' s second game in three days and their fourth in 14 days.

After a 60-28 victory in south Yorkshire, the Bulldogs weren't ideal opponents but Albion defended for their lives in a physical encounter, Shaun Smith growing in confidence as the match wore on to win the most improved player award.

Lucas Evans was the man of the match from both sides and the top tackler and Robson Weir got the magic moment for the last-minute try that won it.

Other tries in a champion team display came from Evans (4), Ellis Sands and Jacob Haigh.

York Acorn u-10s 28 Keighley Albion u-10s 34

ALBION became the first team to inflict a home defeat on York Acorn, hitting the front with two minutes to go via Lewis Bloodworth's fantastic individual effort.

However, stern Albion defence was needed to keep out York Acorn at the end, Caleb McConville then picking up a loose ball and racing the length of the pitch to seal the victory .

Previously Ben McParland – the opposition's choice as player of the match – had scored a hat-trick, other tries coming from McConville and parents' award winner Reece Smollen.

There were also conversions from McConville, McParland and coaches' award winner Jack Loughtman.

Keighley Albion u-17s 8 Normanton Knights u-17s 42

ALBION gave unbeaten Normanton a massive first-half scare before injuries and fatigue took their toll, allowing the league leaders to extra gloss to the scoreline.

The hosts scored off their first attack when, off the base of a scrum, Alfie Seeley found James Wildman-Archer out wide to crash over.

Normanton hit back with two tries but coaches' award winner Jack Kennedy, after good build-up work, wrestled his way over from acting half.

Knights breached Albion’s defences just before half-time but Albion were well in the contest.

Unfortunately with Sam Wilkin, the opposition’s pick as Albion’s best player, missing the entire second half through injury, Albion were unable to sustain their previous pressure.

Normanton added five second-half scores. However, the effort by Albion against a quality outfit cannot be faulted.

Heworth u-11s 36 Keighley Albion u-11s 10

AFTER a convincing start, Albion watched the game slide beyond their grasp in a bad-tempered clash.

First-half tries by Max Duncan and Declan Mathews gave the visitors hope but sustained pressure by Heworth resulted in a 22-10 scoreline at half-time.

However, Albion had played well, and the pace of coaches' award winner Marcus Scargill and Duncan – the opposition's choice as man of the match – exposed the home side's vulnerabilities.

Seb Hopwood and parents' award winner Kian Armstrong also put in strong performances, as did Liam Evans, who soldiered on despite two painful impacts.

However, the failure to capitalise on their opportunities and poor defending allowed Heworth through three more times to seal the tie. Top tackler was Sam Lewis Gillum.
