Division Six West

Worth Village 34, Greetland A 24

Village started the game with eight different players from the previous week and were soon on top of a very determined Greetland side, with full back Danny Spencer on debut scoring an 80-yard try after beating the entire defence to score with his first touch of the ball.

Billy McKay goaled before captain Rocky McNulty went in after good work from another debutant in Ricky Leatham, with the impressive Joe Buckley also involved.

With Jason Dovestone and Sean Cole both going close Village were unlucky not to score more but were stung with a close-range try from Greetland, who made it 12-6.

Man of the match Spencer hit back with a length-of-the-field try and McKay added the extras again.

In the second half, hooker Nick Hird beat three men to go in under the posts after good work from Rob Spencer and Jake Feather. More tries followed, including one from Liam Gillard after Wayne Smith and Sean Snowdon had made the hard yards.

Worth took their foot off the gas and allowed an enthusiastic Greetland back into the game with three late unanswered tries.

Worth are away to neighbours Cowling on Saturday at Burgess Fields (2pm).
