Cowling Harlequins 10 Worth Village 36

COWLING Harlequins saw their unbeaten record come to an end as Worth Village capitalised on their nervy display.

The visitors opened the scoring when they ran in a try out wide after Quins had been marched back ten metres after conceding a penalty.

Craig Nicholson and Chris Spencer worked hard for Harlequins and their good work was rewarded when they carved out a try for stand-off Scott Cunningham.

Worth Village stepped up the pressure and they were rewarded with a 25th minute try.

They were edging closer to the Cowling line when half-time came.

Harlequins came out firing in the second half and great efforts from Liam Kelly and hooker Anthony Packer carried them upfield.

Ben Pickles, back in Quins colours, powered over the line and Kelly added the two.

Ten minutes later Village went in for a try and Quins had a player sent off for questioning the referee.

Their sense of frustration with the match official increased when players coach Daz Greenwood twice had tries disallowed as Worth Village steadily increased their lead.

Worth went third in the early table after largely controlling the game.

Quinten Sneyd scored the try of the match for Village – charging in from all of 80 yards – while Kris Gott crossed despite having four men on him.

Also scoring for the impressive visitors were Luke Moorby, Tony McNulty, Sean Cole and Dave O’Connor.

Worth’s man of the match was Ricky Leatham, with Sneyd and Gott also staking their claims.
