Hollinwood 12 Keighley Albion 30

ALBION kept their promotion bid on track after victory in Oldham kept them second in the table.

At one point it looked as if they would not get there in the bad weather but, after a late kick-off, Keighley settled better. Quick passing saw the ball was passed out wide for Alex Young to score in the corner.

Keighley were moving the ball well from wing to wing and kicked for touch following a penalty. Good hands from the restart saw Danny Bowness pass to Brady Godfrey, who set up the ever-willing Tony Kennedy to cross and Callum Hudson converted.

The visitors continued to dominate with strong defence and hard-running from props Chris Atkins and Bowness. After another good run from man of the match Kennedy, Callum Hudson played in Atkins to crash over from ten metres and Hudson added the extras.

Keighley were cruising but mistakes let the home side in for two converted tries to get back in the game and trail just 16-12 at half-time.

Only good defence kept the home side from adding to their score after the break but, after strong running from Josh Ireland and Kennedy, the ball was passed out wide for Godfrey to touch down before Hudson tagged on the extra two.

With strong defence from new signing Liam Kelly, Hollinwood found it tough to get back in the game. They lost the ball in a tackle and Albion capitalised as Ben Benfield crossed out wide.

There was no let-off as they forced a knock-on and, from the restart, Hudson dummied his way over.

Albion hope to continue their good form in the BARLA National Cup second round at Halifax Irish on Saturday (2pm).
