East Leeds 8 Keighley Albion 30

KEIGHLEY Albion returned to second place in the table with this win over one of their promotion rivals.

Following a rare league defeat the previous week, they came out on top in a tough game in which some last-ditch tackling was needed to keep their hosts out early on.

Albion opened the scoring through Chris Spencer, who scored just past the post and Alfie Seeley added the goal.

It was not long before Keighley scored again as some big defence forced a mistake and Jamie Stephenson gladly picked the ball up to score.

Next on the scoresheet was Jack Kennedy after busting his way through the defence. Albion led 10-0 at the break but it could have been more but for East Leeds tackles or the visitors taking the wrong option.

Albion came out from the restart firing on all cylinders and it was not long before they scored out wide with some good passing from Seeley and Callum Hudson, who combined with Richard Blackburn to send Liam Kelly over, Seeley adding the extras.

Not to be outdone by his younger brother, Tony Kennedy was next on the scoresheet with a strong run which saw him pierce the defensive line.

With man of the match Chris Price making some big tackles and producing some strong running, Albion kept the home side quiet but they did manage a couple of tries.

But Keighley had the last word when a good run from Price and a fine pass from Seeley saw Jack Adams power his way over the line and Seeley added the extras.
