Pennine Supplementary Cup First Round: Leeds Underdogs 6 Silsden 52

Having reformed this season, Silsden romped into the next round of the Supplementary Cup.

They fielded a strong side, but one which is still settling down and has two new coaches. However, this was a dominant performance against a side which showed some indiscipline and got on the wrong side of the referee, with a yellow card in the first half and two reds in the second, all for talking back to the referee.

The scoring began with a try under the sticks from Jason Scott, who looked like he had never been away from the game. Further scores came from Jak Adams, Jack Ninnis, Jonny Crowther, Chris Greenwood and Scott Cunningham. Three tries were converted by Adams.

Silsden led 30-0 at the break and increased it in the second period, despite playing up the slope, with tries from Lee Shaw (2), Tim Wilkinson, a second from Scott, and James Bowdin.

The Underdogs grabbed a consolation try with the last play of the match following a towering up and under.

This week sees a return to league action in Division Four West with the first home game of the season against Queensbury B..
