SSE Yorkshire Division Two

Keighley 31

Leodiensian 0

KEIGHLEY, with their pack in fine form, dominated much of the game.

After a series of line breaks, Keighley the hosts took play deep into visitors' territory and, following a series of rucks, second-row Leigh Sugden drove over to open the scoring.

Leos responded well but the Keighley defence neutralised everything they had to offer.

A break out by Keighley flanker Shaun Minikin and some quick hands then gave winger Luke Carter the opportunity to score wide out, Olly Mitchell adding the difficult conversion.

Towards the end of the half, Sugden got his second try after excellent support work from the forwards, Mitchell again adding the extras.

In the second half, Leos came out fighting, with fly half Ed Farmer in fine form and linking well with his support players.

However, the Keighley defence and the difficult weather conditions denied them space and time.

Although they tried hard and gained good possession and territory, they were unable to score.

Towards the end of the game, some fine forward drives gave Sugden his hat-trick try and a valuable bonus point.

With minutes remaining, the Keighley pack asserted their dominance with a pushover try, grounded by back-rower Elliott Barker.
