Yorkshire Division Two: Castleford 0 Keighley 34
IN ATROCIOUS conditions, Keighley ground out a comfortable victory at Castleford, extending their winning sequence to nine matches and, perhaps even more remarkably, not conceding a point in the last three.
Facing a strong wind and driving rain, Keighley were soon on the attack, and within 10 minutes had grabbed a 10-point lead through tries by centre Adam Horsfall and prop Craig Spencer.
Before half-time, they had secured the valuable four-try bonus point through scores by forwards Leigh Sugden and Hamish Pratt.
Increasingly difficult conditions inhibited Keighley’s progress in the second half, but their overall superiority led to another try by Pratt and a final touchdown by full back Allan Ebbrell.
Keighley remain in second place in the league, six points behind West Leeds with a game in hand.
The Rose Cottagers' points conceded (51 from 10 matches) – this was their fifth clean sheet of the season – is still the best in the north east and is only bettered by Littleborough (47 from 10 in Lancashire North) and Ruskin Park (48 from 10 in Merseyside West) in the north of England.
