KEIGHLEY are not taking visitors Acklam lightly in Yorkshire Division One tomorrow, despite them losing 61-15 at home to Beverley last Saturday.

“We are expecting a tough game. We went down with Acklam in 2013-14 and they never give up,” said Keighley’s head coach Danny McGee.

BRADFORD SALEM, who are at Beverley, will continue to use director of rugby Sam Gardner in the second row, despite having other options.

“He found it tough at Hullensians, and we gave him a breather, but he did well,” said Salem’s first-team manager Neil Klenk.

Salem hope that Jack Mitchell, who is travelling up from Hertfordshire, is available to play scrum half, and reckon that long-term injured flanker Joe Fawcett is nearing a comeback.

BRADFORD & BINGLEY, champions of Yorkshire Division One last season, are delighted to have started life in North One East with a 17-17 draw at Durham City.

They trailed 17-10 with a couple of minutes to go, only to score a try by Ali MacDonald, which debutant Schalk Oosthuizen converted at the second attempt after the referee ruled that City had run out too early on his first effort, which was charged down.

“We were disciplined in defence,” said a delighted Bees coach Martin Whitcombe, whose team are at home to Alnwick.

Wibsey, who won their opening game for the first time in five seasons, defeating hosts Withernsea 31-12, are without winger Jake Green for the trip to Garforth, Isaac Khan coming in.
