THIRD-placed Keighley are taking the loss of influential No 8 Josh Hannah in their stride.

He strained a medial ligament in the fourth minute of their 19-5 Yorkshire Division One home victory and is likely to miss this weekend's match at tenth-placed Selby and the following Saturday's fixture at home to York, who are currently sixth.

"One man's loss is another man's opportunity," said forwards' coach Hamish Pratt, who is himself having to bide his time in terms of getting back into a side who have won their last four matches.

Head coach Danny McGee said: "We had worked hard in training and put in a rounded performance.

"But it was a game we were just glad to win, rather than think about a four-try bonus point.

"However, our back row of Leigh Sugden, Tom Lowther, Shaun Minikin and Lucas Uren played particularly well, and Alex Brown's kicking for position was as good as it has been all season."

Referee Hanson Haigh (West Yorkshire Society) came in for some criticism from Keighley supporters on the hill, and allowed for plenty of injury-time in both halves, each of which lasted 49 minutes.

But one thing Mr Haigh cannot be accused of is of being a 'homer' as he disallowed a 64th-minute try for a knock-on which Ben Blackwell was adamant that he had scored.

Scrum half Rob Wilkinson darted over seconds after Haigh had blown his whistle for a Scarborough infringement, while Keighley also came close with efforts via fellow centre Adam Horsfall and Lowther, while a driving maul ran out of steam as it approached the visitors' line.

On the other hand, Haigh allowed Jack Atkinson's first try, which Scarborough were adamant he hadn't grounded properly.
